Hortimare BV is the supplier of high quality starting material (seed) for seaweed farmers. Our mission is to contribute to a sustainable future, by making seaweed a competitive alternative for land-based products. To accomplish this we advise, support and collaborate closely with seaweed farmers. In addition we contribute to (international) research projects with our scientific knowledge of breeding and propagating various species of seaweed.
For our production and research facility in Heerhugowaard we are currently seeking a skilled and proactive:
Production Technician – full time
Your position in the organization:
Your main goal is to maintain all the cultures and assist with optimizing the production process within the organisation. You will be working independently when it comes to executing production assignments in maintaining gametophyte cultures (seaweed), assessments of stock cultures and safeguarding quality. Together with your colleagues at production you are responsible for the delivery of seedlings to our clients in different countries. You are a skilled planner to make sure sufficient stock is present at the company for delivery to clients and project partners.
You will be working in a dedicated and international team, each member highly professional and involved in the daily operation. The main language is English.
Your profile:
The ideal candidate has the following characteristics:
- Medior Laboratory Education (MBO)
- Decent knowledge of (marine) biology and chemistry and/or prior working experience with microalgae/macroalgae (advantage)
- Works independently and systematically
- Quality oriented
- Accurate, hands-on and proactive
- Stress resistant and able to prioritize from a commercial perspective
- Communicative and teamplayer
